Krav Maga Classes

Krav Maga is a reality-based self-defense system, that is the official fighting system of the Israeli Defense Forces, and has been used by many US law enforcement agencies. Krav Maga was developed as a means of self-defense during the years of conflict prior to and through World War II. Krav Maga was soon adopted by the IDF as the official training system for their military. Since it's birth, Krav Maga has been continually refined to meet the needs of the modern world, and adapted to modern methods of conflict.

Krav Maga is designed as a system to deal with the full timeline of an attack, addressing the period before conflicts, the conflict itself, and what happens after a conflict occurs (pre-fight, fight, post-fight). It incorporates a variety of tactics, defenses, and attacks to accomplish the overall mission: to keep yourself, your unit and your family safe.

In our Krav Maga program, we teach the system in 3D:

  • Timeline of the attacks
  • Variations of those attacks
  • Environment those attacks can happen in

All of these variables affect what can happen during an attack, and ultimately affect what type of defense you use. We will use all of these, and other training tools, to improve our student's ability to respond to stressful situations.

During class you can expect to learn how to defend:

  • Bat and long weapon threats
  • Bat and long weapon attacks

  • All of the above standing, in close quarters, in cars or on the ground

Krav Maga Striking

During class we will guide you through the fundamentals of efficient and powerful striking. The Krav Maga system of self-defense involves defending yourself by attacking back as early as possible. Each day our Krav Maga classes will feature striking relate directly to the Krav Maga self-defense being taught that class.

Striking (punching, kicking, knees, elbows, etc.) and movement are fundamental aspects of Krav Maga and fighting in general. If you can strike and move well, it will make every technique you attempt that much more effective. These aspects are so important that we offer striking instruction with every single class.

Ground Fighting

Ground Fighting is integrated into Krav Maga and into our daily classes. Fighting on the ground i snot our preference, but Krav Maga has a large and well integrated approach to ground fighting, as well as other advanced techniques from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling. Fighting on the ground can be a completely different experience from other positions. In this course we will cover advanced versions of:

  • Take downs
  • Escapes
  • Chokes
  • Ground fighting
  • Advancing your position
  • Multiple attackers
  • Weapons attacks

Ground fighting is not just take downs and submissions. Any attack, whether it be with a knife, baseball bat, or gun, and be done while you're on the ground. Our Krav Maga classes in Plano will quickly improve your overall athleticism, and get your Krav Maga techniques more fluid and crisp.

This incredible Women's Self-Defense class will teach you the skills and techniques to protect yourself by learning Krav Maga techniques that will help you in a violent confrontation. Krav Maga uses instinctive reflexes, natural inertia and constant movement to defend, neutralize and overpower opponents. Regardless of a person's age, strength, fitness level or fighting experience.

We hold a special course for ladies only once per month. It is open to non-members and costs $15 for a 90-minute course. We teach a variety of techniques and life saving skills during these interactive courses.

Hardstyle Kettlebell Strength and Conditioning

We offer daily kettlebell classes at Crucible. These classes will mix kettlebell lifting, bodyweight exercises, and movement routines. The combination of these key strength components is that you will get stronger, use your body better and become mobile.

The primary goal of the Crucible Kettlebell and Strength Training program is to build a foundation of strength. This foundation can be used to make everything else you do better. You can be a fighter, athlete, or just get in great shape. Whatever it is, training with Kettlebells and increasing your overall strength and mobility can improve it.

Russian strongmen and military units have been using Kettlebell for generations to improve strength, muscular endurance and burn fat.

Kettlebell classes are a mix of strength conditioning, core fitness and endurance. When swinging a kettlebell, a relatively large number of muscles are used simultaneously, resulting in a full body workout that also improves mobility and core strength. Similar to how we teach our Krav and Strike classes, courses are usually taught in interval formats, resulting in bursts of high intensity spaced with breaks. This type of training results in a body conditioned for explosive movements, but with extreme control of the body throughout the motions. Again, kettlebell training is exactly the type of training needed to get extremely toned, burn fat, build muscle and directly improves our ability to do Krav Maga as well.

A kettlebell uses the muscles of the body in a completely different manner then traditional dumbbell workouts. The shape of the kettlebell (round with a relatively thick handle) plays an important role in getting such powerful results. The off center weight of the kettlebell forces your body to engage additional stabilizers, which improves the entire range of motion. This allows the body to experience a unique development of the muscles while also undergoing significant increases in endurance and strength. The use of a thick handles improves hand and forearm function. 

If you are looking for proof, the experts at Ace Fitness partnered with the fitness experts at the University of Wisconsin.

"We estimated oxygen consumption and how many calories they were burning aerobically, and it was 13.6 calories per minute. But we also measured the blood lactate, so anaerobically they were burning another 6.6 calories per minute," explains Porcari. "So they were burning at least 20.2 calories per minute, which is off the charts. That's equivalent to running a 6-minute mile pace. The only other thing I could find that burns that many calories is cross-country skiing up hill at a fast pace."

Researchers credit the brisk calorie burning to the fact that the kettlebell snatch workout is a total-body movement that is also done very quickly due to the interval-training format. "We knew it would be extremely intense," says Schnettler. "It's a quick workout, and you do get a big bang for your buck in a very short amount of time."
